Graduate Student Travel Awards

The Food Innovation Center continues a successful travel award to graduate students who advance research projects consistent with the FIC mission. The awards provide up to $500 for travel to national or international professional meetings. We require a minimum 1:1 match. Students in business, social science, arts, or humanities working on food issues are encouraged to apply. FIC anticipates funding up to ten awards for academic year 2014-15.

Requirements

  1. The project must be consistent with the FIC mission and incorporate a component directly related to food research, outreach or teaching.
  2. Applicant must be a graduate student (master’s or doctoral) advised by a current (as of 12/1/2014) FIC faculty member.
  3. Anyone who received travel funding from FIC in the past year is not eligible.
  4. Include an email or letter signed by a faculty advisor stating the source of a 1:1 or greater match.  The match may not be personal funds from the student.
  5. We do not reimburse expenses that predate the application.
  6. A copy of an accepted abstract for an oral or poster presentation is required. Students may apply while awaiting acceptance.
