Food system policy has increasingly localized at the level of the state, county, and city. This shift requires robust planning approaches that (1) empower residents and affected community members in the planning process, (2) connect all sectors of the food system (production, processing, distribution, consumption, waste), and (3) build trust and equity between local government and residents. I have experience and expertise working on these issues.
