Studies of so called "food deserts" have so far been limited to consider only proximity to retail locations and some demographic factors. This fails to fully recognize the multilayered complexities of food security and accessibility. In my work I seek to approach these issues through multidisciplinary collaboration with nutrition and dietetics, community health, and clinical medicine experts in an attempt to identify the complex factors related to childhood hunger.
