My goal is to establish an urban agriculture research and educational laboratory at Waterman Farm in Columbus, on a "rubble" site of demolished barns located on the farm (approximately 100 ft by 300 ft). Weed management, soil health, water and energy resources, and aesthetics are primary obstacles to urban agriculture. My objective is to develop integrated crop production strategies for sustainable, organic cropping systems tailored to small-scale growers in urban environments. This site will serve as a resource for the Ohio State University community to test innovative approaches to urban agriculture that will increase food security in our cities.
