FIC Member Earl Harrison Discovers Downside of Beta-carotene in Cancer Prevention

Earl HarrisonFIC member Earl Harrison has helped to unlock the key to a mystery that has been plaguing the science community for years. Harrison, along with his FIC team collaborators Robert Curley, Rachel Kopec, Ken Riedl, and Steven Schwartz, have discovered that diets high in beta-carotene (an antioxidant associated with certain foods with yellow, orange, or green color) can actually block the benefits of vitamin A, which is essential for fighting diseases such as cancer.
