Bruce A. McPheron Named Ohio State Provost
After a national search, Ohio State University President Michael V. Drake has named Bruce A. McPheron executive vice president and provost, effective today. McPheron previously served as interim provost. As Ohio State’s chief academic officer, he will oversee and help to advance the educational mission of one of the nation’s largest and most comprehensive universities.
An Ohio State University graduate, McPheron, 61, returned to his alma mater in 2012 as vice president for agricultural administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
Under his leadership, McPheron launched the Field to Faucet initiative, a statewide effort led by the Ohio State faculty and staff members to ensure clean drinking water in Ohio.
McPheron has almost 20 years of experience in leadership positions in higher education and had previously served as dean of Penn State University's College of Agricultural Sciences.
